With EU support the reconstruction of the Sports Centre in Mionica is underway

The Sports Centre in Mionica will soon get a new look with the support of the European Union (EU) extended through the EU PRO Plus programme, which is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of European Integration, in order to improve local conditions for practicing sports and organising sports activities.

The EU grant in the amount of 160,000 Euros will be invested in the construction of stands, changing rooms, the reconstruction of the ground floor of the facility and the provision of access paths for people with disabilities, while the installation of solar panels in order to improve energy efficiency. The project also foresees activities that should contribute to greater social inclusion of vulnerable groups, such as organised sports activities for children with autism, while special attention will be devoted to the development of women's football by organising tournaments for girls and the founding a women's football club.

"The municipality of Mionica invests significantly in sports and young people, so with new stands and a modern environment, we will now further improve the conditions for playing sports, for children, young people, athletes and recreationists, as well as people with disabilities, so that everyone has equal opportunities." This is one of a series of projects that the municipality is currently implementing, all of which are aimed at improving the quality of people's lives", said Boban Janković, the Mayor of Mionica Municipality, which participates in the implementation of the project with 28,348 Euros.

The works will last 90 days and will be carried out by the company Kompresor Ing from Valjevo, selected in the public procurement procedure conducted by the municipality of Mionica.

The project in Mionia is one of 33 local infrastructure projects in the regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia and Southern and Eastern Serbia that the EU supports through the EU PRO Plus programme with more than five million Euros in order to improve the quality of life of people through the  renovation and reconstruction of educational, health and social care institutions, sports and cultural facilities, and improvement of communal infrastructure and public administration buildings.
