The Šabac Industrial Zone covers 600 hectares, and these works will complete the infrastructure equipment of 69 hectares of land for new investors.
"The City of Šabac, with the support of the EU, continues to work on the infrastructural expansion of the zone in order to provide investors with road infrastructure, water and sewage networks, electricity, that is, everything that is needed for business operations. The most important thing for us is that we contribute to the creation of new jobs in Šabac", said Mayor Aleksandar Pajić. As he reminded, the European Union has already helped with the infrastructural equipping of a part of the zone, which is now an even more attractive location next to the new highway. The mayor stated that numerous foreign and domestic companies operate in the zone, and that additional investments of 300 million Euros and the creation of over 1,500 jobs are expected in the coming period.
The project in Šabac is one of 20 economic infrastructure projects in the regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia and Southern and Eastern Serbia that the EU supports through the EU PRO Plus Programme with more than five million Euros. The projects aim to improve local competitiveness by improving business conditions and attracting new investments. The works include the construction or reconstruction and infrastructural equipping of industrial zones, tourist zones, as well as the preparation of technical documentation for the purpose of developing economic infrastructure.
