About 200 primary school students from the settlements of Belotinac and Čapljinac in the municipality of Doljevac, including the settlement of Batušinac in the municipality of Merošina, as well as students from Međurovo in the municipality of Palilula in Niš, today have significantly improved conditions for education in the school since the roof, facade and interior and exterior carpentry have been replaced, which improved the energy efficiency of this building. The electrical installations and floors were also replaced while the water supply and sewerage network was reconstructed.
"It is a big day for all the inhabitants of Belotinac and Doljevac as we have successfully implemented another project and most importantly, children and employees now have excellent conditions for learning and working. The school also managed to provide new furniture, so that the students start the second semester at a completely renovated school", said Jovica Pešić, Head of Economy and Finance Department in the municipality of Doljevac. As he added, the municipality still has to implement activities related to further improvement of energy efficiency, as well as monitoring of costs with savings that will be invested in the further improvement of educational conditions in Doljevac.
The EU, through the EU PRO Plus programme, provided almost 180,000 Euros for the reconstruction of the school, while the municipality of Doljevac participated with significant funds of over 125,000 Euros.
