Around 200 students from the "Vuk Karadžić" Elementary School in the Belotinac neighborhood of Doljevac municipality now enjoy better educational conditions following the reconstruction of a building dating back to 1955. The European Union (EU), in cooperation with the Ministry of European Integration, has invested nearly 180,000 Euros through the EU PRO Plus program. The reconstruction entailed replacement of the floors, the ceiling and the roof and gutters, electrical installations were upgraded, both interior and exterior lighting were modernized, restrooms were renovated, and the water and sewage networks were reconstructed. Additionally, wastewater treatment facilities were installed due to the lack of a local sewage system. Furthermore, thermal insulation of the facade and replacement of external joinery significantly improved the building's energy efficiency.
The project in Doljevac was part of the EU PRO Plus program, which supported 33 local infrastructure projects in the regions of Šumadija, western Serbia, southern Serbia, and eastern Serbia with over €5.5 million. The program aimed to enhance the quality of life through the revitalization of educational, healthcare, and social institutions, sports and cultural facilities, as well as the improvement of municipal services and public administration buildings.
