Heartfelt work, soulful home

There aren’t many opportunities for young architects in Tutin. And when there’s no work, the entrepreneurial spirit kicks in— so Dušan Stašević decided to create his own.

It wasn’t easy, but with great enthusiasm, he turned his passion for architecture into a profession. In 2021, he founded his own architectural design studio, fittingly named "Moja kuća" (My Home).

In a competitive field that doesn’t forgive mistakes, he stood out through dedication, precision, and a desire to make each project better than the last. As he says: "The only way to stand out is to give your whole heart to every job."

We all know that beginnings are hard. And when you’re an entrepreneur looking to grow, every day is, in a way, a new beginning. To move to the next level, it became clear that his business needed to keep pace with market trends—which often requires costly equipment.

That’s where the European Union came in—through the EU PRO Plus programme. With a grant of 21,202 Euros and his own co-funding, Dušan was able to procure IT equipment that transformed his workflow. Quality went up—and so did the volume of work. Because good news travels fast—and echoes even louder across Pešter!

Today, "Moja kuća" designs homes and builds trust. The team has grown by one more colleague, and through its social responsibility activity, the studio developed technical documentation for buildings intended for socially vulnerable families.

Dušan has come a long way, but he never forgets where he started. His message to young people thinking about entrepreneurship is simple, yet powerful: "Be brave."

This initiative was part of a broader effort by the EU PRO Plus programme to strengthen local economic development through backing of micro and small enterprises local self-governments across Šumadija and Western Serbia, and Southern and Eastern Serbia. The Public Call for Proposals for Procurement of Equipment and Introduction of Services for Entrepreneurs, Micro, and Small Enterprises resulted in 113 projects (out of 610 applications received) with a total value of 3,564,397 Euros. The EU provided 2,731,787 Euros to support enterprises focused on production and services, including information technology, architectural and engineering activities, health and social care, tourism, and maintenance and repair services. The initiative included job creation proportional to grant size and corporate social responsibility benefiting local communities.
