Mali Zvornik is improving its tourist infrastructure with the support of the European Union

Mali Zvornik with the European Union support (EU) has started works on improving the tourist infrastructure in order to enrich the tourist offer of the municipality and attract more tourists. With EU grants of almost 140,000 Euros, extended through the EU PRO Plus programme, which is implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of European Integration, a tourist information centre, hiking trails and a viewpoint to the archaeological site "Orlovine" will be built, while the Municipality will also purchase pedal boats, kayaks and electric bicycles.

"With the EU support we have started an important project that will significantly improve the tourist offer of our municipality. We will arrange the archaeological site 'Orlovine', part of our rich cultural heritage, and we will also improve the offer at Zvornik Lake so that tourists stay longer in Mali Zvornik and its surroundings," said Zoran Jevtić, Mayor of Mali Zvornik. Jevtić added that the municipality is co-financing in the project with around 15,000 Euros, and that through the project the management of local tourist attractions is improved through training for tourism employees, all with the aim of revitalising this tourist destination.

The works performed by Mirado doo from Belgrade, selected in the public procurement procedure conducted by the municipality of Mali Zvornik, should be completed during the fall of 2024.

The project in Mali Zvornik is one of 20 economic infrastructure projects in the regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia and Southern and Eastern Serbia that the EU supports through the EU PRO Plus Programme with more than five million Euros. The projects aim to improve local competitiveness by improving business conditions and attracting new investments. The works include the construction or reconstruction and infrastructural equipping of industrial zones, tourist zones, as well as the preparation of technical documentation for the purpose of developing economic infrastructure.
