The works, supported by the EU support with close to 170,000 Euros, include construction of combined courts, namely two handball courts and four basketball courts with an asphalt surface, while the accompanying equipment will be purchased. The sports fields will be marked according to international regulations, thus ensuring the possibility of holding international matches, while with the construction of stands for visitors and the introduction of lighting with LED reflectors, matches will be held during the evening hours, too.
"First in 2019 with the donor support, the municipality of Knjaževac renovated the stadium built in the sixties of the 20th century, and now, thanks to EU funds, we will create the conditions for playing sports and recreation for all our fellow citizens," said the Mayor of Knjaževac, Milan Đokić.
The deadline for the completion of the works carried out by the company Strabag doo from Belgrade, selected in the public procurement procedure conducted by the municipality of Knjaževac, is 90 days.
The project in Knjaževac is one of 33 local infrastructure projects in the regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia and Southern and Eastern Serbia that the EU supports through the EU PRO Plus programme with more than five million Euros in order to improve the quality of life of people through the renovation and reconstruction of educational, health and social care institutions, sports and cultural facilities, and improvement of communal infrastructure and public administration buildings
