The project in Rgošte envisages the completion of works on internal, electrical and mechanical installations at the Rehabilitation Centre and Spa "Banjica". The first phase of the works, which included construction works, water supply and sewerage, as well as underfloor heating, was financed by the Municipality of Knjaževac and the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications and was completed in 2022.
"This rehabilitation and spa centre is located next to a natural source of thermal mineral water and is one of the most significant tourist potentials of our municipality. With the significant support of the EU, we will finish this complex in order to attract more tourists to our region, but also to employ our fellow citizens", said Milan Đokić, Mayor of the Municipality of Knjaževac, which participates in the realisation of the project with almost 30,000 Euros. As the Mayor stated, the centre consists of two connected parts with spa and wellness facilities, and it will be equipped to provide rehabilitation services and modern physical therapy.
The works installation and placement of hydromassage tubs, a Finnish sauna and a steam bath are currently ongoing, while in the coming period heating works will be carried out and furniture for the facility will be purchased.
The project in Knjaževac is one of 20 economic infrastructure projects in the regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia and Southern and Eastern Serbia that the EU supports through the EU PRO Plus Programme with more than five million Euros. The projects aim to improve local competitiveness by improving business conditions and attracting new investments. The works include the construction or reconstruction and infrastructural equipping of industrial zones, tourist zones, as well as the preparation of technical documentation for the purpose of developing economic infrastructure.
