Development of sustainable urban development strategy

The strategy for the development of the urban area of ​​the city of Leskovac deals with the urban area with a population of 144,206 inhabitants, which is located on important traffic corridors. There is a significant number of brownfield and greenfield locations on the territory, as well as the tourist potentials of Kukavica Mountain and the Vučjanka River Canyon – an area that includes Skobajić Grad, Vučje Hydroelectric Power Plant, Teokarević's house and the Museum of Textiles, which represents a turning point at the beginning of the textile industry in Serbia.

Improvement of the waste management system in the urban area of Leskovac with more advanced and innovative environmentally friendly solutions - PRO WASTE INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS

Introduction of underground containers and advanced collection technologies in Leskovac to tackle waste segregation and capacity issues. The project envisages instalation of 22 containers, employing an ecological vehicle, and utilising sensors and GIS for monitoring. A portable X-ray fluorescence (XRF) device will be procured to enhance waste analysis, supporting recycling efforts. The initiative will also include an awareness campaign and a zero-waste app, aiming to educate over 3,600 students and city employees. By streamlining waste processing and improving hygiene, the project aims to foster a cleaner, more sustainable environment for the entire community.

Local Infrastructure

Energy efficiency rehabilitation of the primary school “Bora Stanković'' in Guberavac village in Leskovac built in 1882, contributes to better education conditions for over 240 pupils and 28 employees. The intervention reduces energy losses, enabling savings and improving environmental protection. The project entails replacement of the facade joinery, installation of the thermal insulation and facade plaster finishing, protection of the attic space with thermal insulation, and replacement of lighting in the teaching room.
