Improving the Energy Efficiency of the Puppet Theatre Building in Niš

Children and their families visiting the Puppet Theatre in Niš can now enjoy performances in a more comfortable and healthier environment thanks to improvements in the building's energy efficiency. A modern heating, cooling and ventilation system has created better conditions for audiences and staff throughout the year.

The project, worth 233,853 Euros, was supported by the European Union with 171,073 Euros through the EU PRO Plus programme, while the City of Niš contributed 62,780 Euros. The investment included the renovation of the heating, cooling and ventilation systems, basement waterproofing and the procurement of streaming equipment. The new technology enables performances to be recorded and shared online, helping promote the Puppet Theatre to wider audiences in Serbia and beyond.

The project also included an educational component. With the participation of primary school pupils from Niš, the play "The Lonely Tree" was developed and performed, using art to raise awareness about environmental protection and sustainable development.
