Renovation involves replacing the old carpentry in the school building, which will increase energy efficiency by 30 percent, while the municipality of Medveđa participates in the project implementation with over 27,000 Euros.
Since the carpentry in the building where the school is now located has not been changed for more than 40 years, the classrooms could not be heated well in the winter, and they are extremely warm in the summer. With the support of the EU and the municipality, the school will be provided with adequate conditions for learning and work, while savings in the budget will be achieved. The Primary school in Medveđa was founded in 1888, and today it also hosts classes of the Music School "Stanislav Binički" from Leskovac, and pupils from the special department of the School for Primary and Secondary Education "11th October from Leskovac".
The works performed by the company Manasijević doo Bujanovac from Bujanovac, selected in the public procurement procedure conducted by the municipality of Medveđa, will last 57 days.
The project in Medveđa is one of 39 local infrastructure projects in the regions of Šumadija and Western Serbia and Southern and Eastern Serbia that the EU supports through the EU PRO Plus programme with over six million Euros in order to improve the quality of life of people through the renovation and reconstruction of educational, health and social care institutions, sports and cultural facilities, and improvement of communal infrastructure and public administration buildings.
